A. Anbalagan, leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam legislature, on Thursday urged the Chief Secretary not to intervene in the nominated MLA issue.

Addressing a press conference here, he said if the BJP leaders had any issue with the order issued by the Speaker making their appointment as nominated legislators “void”, they should approach the court.

The Chief Secretary could not interfere with the order issued by the Speaker, he said. “It can only be challenged in a court,” he said.

Attacks Congress

Mr. Anbalagan criticised the Congress for its handling of financial affairs of the Union Territory. If the present situation continued, the government would not be able to pay salary in January next year, he said.
