The Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), Ministry of AYUSH, has selected the Advanced Centre for Yoga Therapy, Education and Research (ACYTER), Jipmer, as one of the centres for the official celebration of International Yoga Day.
As a part of the global celebration, ‘The International Yoga Day’ will be celebrated by the Government of India on June 21, under the supervision of the CCRYN.
“The CCRYN has sanctioned Rs. one lakh to ACYTER for this,” said S.C.Parija, director Jipmer.
Month-long camp
As part the celebration, the ACYTER has, in collaboration with the CCRYN, started organising a month-long free yoga camp from May 21 at 4th Floor, Jipmer Academic Centre.
Certificates will be distributed to all participants on June 20 at the end of the programme. The free yoga camp comprises of daily classes held in two sessions in the morning (9.30 a.m. to 10.15 a.m. and 10.15 a.m. to 11 a.m.) and one session between 3.15 p.m. to 4 p.m. and also daily free yoga consultation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All these programmes are conducted and organised by yoga specialist and physician G. K. Pal, professor of physiology and faculty in-charge of ACYTER; S. Velkumary, programme coordinator of ACYTER; and S. Navasakthi, yoga therapist.
National seminar
On June 21, a national seminar-cum-CME on yoga will be organised by ACYTER, in which delegates from all over the country will participate.
