The overall pass percentage in the Class XII State Board examinations, which included the results of students from both private and government schools, has improved by almost five per cent.
Thirty four private higher secondary schools and Government Higher Secondary School in Koodapakkam has secured centum pass percentage in the results of Class XII Board examination which were announced on Friday.
Talking to The Hindu , E. Vallavan, Director of School Education said, “Fifteen Government Higher Secondary Schools achieved 90 per cent pass. Compared to the last four years, overall pass percentage has been increased by five per cent this time. About 723 students scored centum in different subjects and 70 of them were from government schools.”
Both the Karaikal and the Puducherry regions have shown a marked improvement with 89.39 and 90.87 pass percentages respectively.
Of the 13,477 candidates who wrote examinations from the Puducherry and Karaikal regions, 12,077 passed out. The girls outshone the boys in both regions.
During 2010-11, the pass percentage in the Union Territory was 83.55. It rose to 84.51 and 88.17 for the last academic years. Currently it reached to 89.61 per cent.
