It is a progressive budget, says Rangasamy

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Saturday praised the Union budget 2015-16 presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as progressive and said that it had been prepared with a long perspective approach.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Rangasamy said that the plan drawn by the Centre to develop infrastructure, energy generation and water resources was growth-oriented.

The budget also concentrates on ensuring jobs for the people and the idea of providing one job for every family would definitely contribute to the development of the nation.

Mr. Rangasamy said that he had requested the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, to intervene and ensure the immediate release of the Karaikal fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy. Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister of State for PMO V. Narayanasamy has slammed the Union budget 2015-16 as “pro-corporate and anti-people.”

He said that the budget had disappointed the salaried class and the tax payers since there had been no reduction in tax payment for the common man.

The corporate tax which was 30 percent during the previous UPA regime had been reduced to 25 per cent. The move will only curtail the tax collection of the government.

Mr. Narayanasamy said that the allocation for agriculture sector was very meagre. Over 70 per cent of the population in the country is dependent on agriculture.

Similarly the allocation for infrastructure development is low. This clearly shows that the government lacks vision, he said.
