Integrated learning centre opens at Pondicherry University

It is the first Central University to bag the acclaimed project

Education Minister R. Kamalakannan inaugurated a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) Resource and Training Centre at Pondicherry University.

School of Education, Pondicherry University organised the event under the auspices of Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Pondicherry University is the only Central University to bag this much acclaimed project for which Manipal University is the lead partner, a press note said.

Mumtaz Begum, the principal coordinator of the CLIL@India Project from the School of Education provided an overview of the CLIL methodology and the efforts put in to bag this project. She also highlighted why CLIL is required in the present day context.

Anisa Basheer Khan, Vice Chancellor-in-charge elaborated the importance of ‘CLIL’ and traced its history as well. She also assured that the University will extend its support to innovative projects going forward.

P.K.Subramaniam, Dean (i/c) of School of Education, K.Tharanikkarasu, Registrar (i/c), Dr.Ana M.Relano and Dr.Helena Aikin, language experts from the University of Castile-La Mancha (UCLM), Spain, Pondicherry University, Vijaykumar, Deputy Coordinator of the Project, teachers, teacher educators, NGOs, University academicians and others participated.
