Ahead of the new academic year, inspection of school buses has commenced across Vellore district. On Tuesday, 47 school buses were rejected for not fulfilling certain parameters mandated by the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles (Regulation and Control of School Buses) Special Rules 2012.

Collector S. A. Raman along with Superintendent of Police P. Pakalavan and Regional Transport Officers (RTO) of Vellore, Ranipet and Vaniyambadi inspected the school buses on a private school’s ground. A total of 252 school buses were brought for inspection from three areas.

“Of the 252 buses, 205 buses were cleared after scrutiny. We took stock of the minutest details and rejected 47 buses for not fulfilling some of the 19 parameters mentioned in the rules. The Collector told that there should be no slackness and each and every aspect should be checked” P. Suresh, RTO, Vellore said.
