Young roller-skating enthusiasts in Puducherry had the thrill of their lives when they got to interact with none other than India’s fastest skater Nikhilesh Tabhane from Mumbai.

Mr. Tabhane, who has multiple records to his name, had been to the city on the invite of the Michael Skating Academy to organise a coaching camp. About 20 young skaters of the Academy attended the eight-day camp led by the ace skater.

Each day featured two three-hour sessions.

“We had been trying to get him here for about a year as we felt that such a camp would go a long way in developing the sport in the city,” said A. Michel of the Academy. The two-year-old school conducts skating classes for about 60 skaters in the 5 to 21 age group.

Techniques

According to Mr. Michel, Mumbai-based Mr. Tabhane, who holds the 300 mts time trail inline skating national roller skating championship record for the past four years, shared several techniques with the young skaters over the course of the camp.

At the conclusion of the training, the Academy presented a memento to Mr. Tabhane as a token of appreciation from the students and their parents.

Mr. Michel was confident that the skaters had benefited from the camp and would bring glory to the city in inline championships in future.
