Union Ministry of Home Affairs has issued orders transferring Puducherry Police Chief and Inspector General of Police Praveer Ranjan to Delhi Police.

Inspector General of Police Sunil Kumar Gautam has been transferred to Union Territory of Puducherry in his place.

These transfers will come into effect after conclusion of Assembly polls in UT.

Notification

According to a notification from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the joint-cadre authority of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMU) cadre approved the transfer of the IPS officers.

In Puducherry, Mr. Ranjan joined as Inspector General of Police in 2014 and took charge of the smooth conduct of Parliamentary elections in the year 2014.

New initiatives

Several new initiatives including the new website of Puducherry Police, implementation of CCTNS for networking of all police stations and crime stations, web based applications for security of women and strengthening of traffic police were undertaken during his tenure.

One of the highlights of his tenure was the introduction of e-recruitment system. Around 800 recruitments in Puducherry Police were conducted without any complaint.
