Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP P. Kannan on Saturday declared that he would fight to oust the “anti-people” All India NR Congress government.

Lambasting the government for failing on all fronts, Mr. Kannan said, “I am ready to take to streets for the people of Puducherry. After Deepavali, I will lead mass agitations to unseat the government. I will not rest until the government is ousted .”

He said in the present regime, employees of Government establishments and subsidiary units did not get salaries for several months. Their families have been facing untold sufferings.

Talking to reporters, he added it was anguishing to note that Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has not shown any attention to plight of employees.

Mr. Kannan pointed out that he was instrumental in bringing schemes such as providing free distribution of single boiled rice, separate passes to school students during Congress rule, but the present government did not sustain the measures. Stating that corruption abounds in all departments, he said, “It is shameful to note that there is (an) irregularity in even procurement of rice meant for free distribution to poor.

Slamming the police for alleged failure to maintain law and order, the Congress leader wanted to know the steps police taken to control the increasing crimes and regulate traffic bottlenecks.

Reacting to the show-cause notice to him, Mr. Kannan said he already sent response duly to the high command of the party.
