Heavy rain lashed various parts of Puducherry on Thursday providing much needed respite to people from sweltering heat.

30 mm of the rainfall

Official sources said that Puducherry received a maximum of 30 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Thursday.

The heavy downpour resulted in water logging in many parts of the town and it caught the civic authorities unawares. Fishermen in most of the coastal villages did not venture into the sea .
