Heatwave engulfs Puducherry

June 16, 2014 04:16 pm | Updated October 18, 2016 02:38 pm IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Temperature soared on Sunday as a heatwave engulfed Puducherry and kept residents largely confined to their homes. As a result, there were far fewer holiday crowds and roads wore deserted look.

The tourists who braved the heat confined themselves to the beachside. The Sunday Market was not chock-a-block with shoppers as usual.

“We cancelled our outing plans and decided to go for a swim at Bodhi beach. Today was exceptionally hot,” said Vandana Shah, who works with an NGO. Power cuts added to the discomfort too.
