To develop leadership among children and the youth in Puducherry, NGOs Mughil and Trust for Youth and Leadership (TYCL) conducted a two-day training programme, ‘Harvesting Youth Leadership,’ recently.

Organisers said that the programme was designed to deal with issues in Puducherry through a legal, ethical and moral perspective to bring about change in society.

The programme was attended by 10 resource persons from different areas such as social work, healthcare and legal field, and included communication experts to create awareness of different issues.

Organisers also said that it was the first-of-its-kind welfare programme where more than 50 college students and young IT professionals volunteered to bring about social change in Puducherry.

The programme was also attended by 20 child representatives from Baby Sarah’s Home orphanage, Child Development Centre and New Era Children Collective.

Volunteers were sensitised to communication skills, waste management, organisation values, fund-raising strategies, transparency and accountability.

Organisers are hopeful that the interaction between the children and the volunteers would lead to future changes in the community and have a positive impact on society.
