The territorial administration will explore options to revive the stalled Ossudu Drinking Water Project to provide potable water to residents, Minister for Public Works A. Namassivayam informed the Assembly.

Replying to a question by Congress member R. Siva, the Minister said the lake was declared a bird sanctuary in 2007 and the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment had laid certain conditions including maintaining 60 cubic metres of water in the lake. The Ministry has been approached seeking clarifications to revive the project.

A separate drinking water project would be taken up in urban as well as rural areas with Rs. 1400 crore assistance from French government, he said.
