The banners which were put up by supporters of former Chief Minister and All India N.R. Congress chief N. Rangasamy coinciding with his birthday last week was striking this time not for portraying him with super human qualities. Though posters showing Mr. Rangasamy in various avatars did appear here and there, the party it seems was more interested to send a clear political message this time .
In a deviation from the past, there were banners showing Mr. Rangasamy chatting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah. Of late, the principal Opposition party has gravitated towards the Saffron party. In fact, there had been reports of Mr. Shah suggesting of merging AINRC with BJP.
Play it smart in protecting environment
The government agencies are yet to wake up to the threat posed to the environment due to the letting out of untreated sewage water into sea.
Every day along with garbage, sewage water from households, industries and hotels are being let out into sea without proper treatment.
Receiving a smart city tag alone would not serve any purpose without addressing the issue of sewerage and waste management.
