Girl allegedly raped by junior in school

A 13-year-old girl studying in an international school here was reportedly sexually abused by a 12-year-old boy on the school premises on July 21.

A month after the incident, the police registered a case. The boy was sent to the Ariyankuppam observatory home this week and investigation is under way.

Sources said that even the school authorities had failed to report the matter to the police and just suspended the boy from school till August 15.

The victim was taken to a private clinic in Puducherry, the sources added. A senior gynaecologist who conducted a medical examination did not report to the police or send the girl to a government hospital. “Even the medical report (a copy of which is available with The Hindu ) written by the doctor gives a very sketchy information,” sources said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan refused to comment on the issue.
