Going overboard: Banners erected by party functionaries ahead of Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy’s birthday overshadow the statue of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai on Anna Salai in Puducherry.

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has asked Congress workers not to put up banners on the occasion of his birthday that falls on May 30.

The Chief Minister told presspersons here on Monday that he had asked party cadre not to put up banners or posters.

“The well-off people in the party can donate the money to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

“The amount will be used to pay for the medical expenses of poor people,” he said.

The Chief Minister said he had directed the Minister for Public Works to remove banners erected as part of the birthday celebrations.
