: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has urged the government to enhance the housing subsidy for those belonging to Scheduled Caste.
DMK MLA and party organiser (south) R.Siva presented a memorandum to Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Monday. Mr. Siva asked the Chief Minister to initiate steps to enhance housing subsidy from the present Rs. 4 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh.
He also sought the government to extend financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste entrepreneurs to set up new industrial units in Union Territory. Stating that funds earmarked under special component plan for the developmental schemes for the depressed sections should not be utilised for any other purpose, Mr. Siva asked the Chief Minister to bring in a separate legislation for the utilising the funds under special component plan.
