Members of the Pondicherry State Government Employees Central Federation on Monday staged a demonstration near the Legislative Assembly in support of their charter of demands including retrospective implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendation from January 1, 2014. The agitators led by P. Lakshmanasamy, president of the Federation, demanded that the interim monetary benefit should be extended to all the employees.

They also demanded abolition of the new pension scheme and lifting of ban on creation of new posts.

Mr. Lakshmanasamy said that salary had not been provided to over 6,000 employees of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) ranging from three to 45 months.

Around 1,000 employees had been denied retirement benefits. The Federation also demanded regularisation of daily rated and voucher based workers in various departments.
