She says Saminathan made objectionable remarks while addressing Papsco workers

Congress woman legislator V. Vizeaveny has filed a complaint with the Protection of Civil Rights Cell against the Bharatiya Janata Party local unit president, V. Saminathan, for making casteist remarks.

Ms. Vizeaveny, in his complaint to the PCR Cell on Sunday, alleged that Mr. Saminathan, while addressing a demonstration of Puducherry Agro Service and Industries Corporation Ltd., workers had used highly objectionable remarks.

Mr. Swaminathan had made light of her socio-economic background while referring to her present position as MLA. The terms used by him were highly objectionable, she said.

‘Lacks political decency’

Earlier, addressing a press conference, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy condemned the language used by the BJP president against Congress legislators. The BJP president had crossed political decency while referring to the Congress MLAs, including Ms Vizeaveny.

The kind of language used by Mr. Swaminathan suggested that he was politically unfit to occupy the position he held. There was no bar on political parties expressing different opinions and criticising each other’ policies. But while doing so, political leaders should maintain decorum, he said.

“He has crossed all limits. Even a reference was made about me. We are collecting details,” Mr. Narayanasamy added.
