Following a direction from All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi, Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) will organise consultation meetings with workers from January 10 to chalk out political strategy based on local factors.
AICC general secretary in-charge Mukul Wasnik and Secretary in-charge G. Chinna Reddy will come down and spend time in each Assembly constituency to consult small groups of PCC delegates representing the block, district committee office-bearers, block and booth presidents and representatives of frontal organisations.
After the Assembly constituency-wise consultation, they will conduct similar exercise with AICC members, PCC office bearers, MLAs, senior leaders.
Over the last two months, the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has held a series of consultative meetings with Congress leaders from all over the country to elicit their views and bring about ac consensus on core areas such as Congress ideology and organisational reforms required to progressively devolve power.
In a separate letter to PCC president A.V. Subramanian, Ms. Gandhi said that the series of meetings should increase accountability of leaders at all levels and way forward for the party with a view to winning the confidence of all sections of society and expand its base.
“In consonance with Congress’s imperative to develop power and strengthen the voice of party workers in decision-making, I would like to seek inputs from State units before finalising the agenda for action and the way forward for discussion and ratification in the next AICC session,” said Ms. Gandhi.
She also advised the local unit to develop a State-specific political strategy based on local factors and circumstances of the respective States.
