A young Congress leader on Monday tendered his resignation to the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Party president A.V. Subramanian while the latter was addressing presspersons here.
The press conference was arranged by the Congress to explain the programme of the Congress Seva Dal.
Initially Mr. Subramanian was dwelling upon various political issues including his recent visit to New Delhi for briefing the high command about the party performance.
Immediately after his address was over, Congress Seva Dal president K.S.Sibi, who was sitting along with Mr.Subramanian, whipped a letter from his pocket and gave to Mr. Subramanian.
He announced that he resigned from the party post as he was ignored when State leaders went to New Delhi to participate in the deliberations held to discuss the poll debacle.
After receiving the letter, Mr.Subramanian said Mr. Sibi’s resignation was not accepted.
“I am born Congressman. I have been in the party since my father K. Karunanidhi’s days. My father had been serving as an MLA. Without any selfish motive, my family has been working for party wholeheartedly. I was not invited by party leaders here to participate in the deliberation held in New Delhi”, said Mr.Sibi.
He said, “I even talked to Congress leader V.Narayanasamy about accompanying the delegation to New Delhi. He asked me why such unnecessary expenses for you.”
