The Pradesh Congress Committee, which received resignation letters from a group of supporters of Rajya Sabha Member P. Kannan, has reportedly established contact with him to placate him.

Though the PCC conducted several meetings of party workers in Puducherry and Karaikal ever since Union Minister V. Narayanasamy was re-nominated for the Puducherry seat by the Congress high command, Mr. Kannan, who is one of the senior leaders of the party in Puducherry, has not attended any of the meetings.

Similarly, most of his supporters have also kept away from the meetings. They claim that their leader was not consulted before selecting the candidate . The PCC, which did not show urgency in solving the issue initially, has started its moves to placate Mr. Kannan. Feelers were reportedly sent to him.

Reliable sources told The Hindu that Mr. Narayanasamy would meet Mr. Kannan shortly to seek his support. The Union Minister would also listen to his grievances to find a solution.
