In a bid aimed at strict enforcement of revised autorickshaw fares in the city, the Traffic Police have introduced “traffic complaint cards” to be available at traffic police booths and stations.

A senior police official said that for lodging a complaint, people will be required to write details such as the registration number of a vehicle, date, time, nature of complaint, their address, and drop it at the nearest traffic police station. The police would investigate into the complaints sent through the cards.

Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on her official Twitter handle said the traffic complaint card would empower the commuter to report any violation. The complaint card informs the commuter of the revised rates. “We are doing surprise decoy checks at night to see if commuters are being harassed. Drivers found reasonable are being recognised and called to Raj Nivas to be given a gift of gratitude,” Ms. Bedi said.

The idea behind the initiative was to encourage such behaviour for the convenience of travellers and tourists visiting Puducherry. People can take printouts of the traffic complaint card from the Raj Nivas website, she added.
