Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy conducted a surprise inspection at the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation headquarters and its workshop premises.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Transport Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan, visited the premises located near the Puducherry Bus stand and found some of the buses in a state of disuse.

He asked the officials how the PRTC, which had over 100 buses, could incur loss and why they were kept idle in the depot.

Mr. Narayanasamy told them that henceforth not a single bus should be idle at the depot.

Rather, they should be put out on the roads to serve the people. “Keeping a good part of the fleet idle here is also one of the reasons for loss,” Mr. Narayanasamy told the officials.

The Chief Minister advised the transport corporation officials to avoid loss and not to await assistance from the government for everything.

Conducting a review meeting , Mr. Narayanasamy asked the officials to explain the reason for the loss and advised them to augment the revenue by reducing maintenance cost. He also told them to buy quality spare parts and to ensure that the staff performed their duties properly.
