CM discusses budget plans

As part of pre-budget consultations, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy chaired a meeting with Ministers, Secretaries and Heads of Departments at the Chief Secretariat here on Saturday.

Sources said that the Chief Minister discussed department-wise reviews and allocation to be made in the current budget, expenditure for various projects and also priorities for the current fiscal.

Mr. Narayanasamy has already completed a series of meetings with stakeholder departments on their requirements last month.

The government has sought an additional grant of Rs.1,200 crore from the Union government over the proposed outlay of Rs.6,465 crore by the State Planning Board under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi.

The budget would be tabled by Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on August 29. This will be the first budget of the Narayanasamy-headed Congress government.
