In a veiled reference to Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Thursday said certain forces for the last one year had been sending “false complaints and making unsubstantiated allegations with the intent to cause administrative paralysis.”
The Chief Minister was responding to a question at a press conference he had convened to announce the formation of special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the smart city about registration of cases against government officials in the medical admission to private medical institutions by the Central Bureau of Investigation .
For the last one year, a few forces had been complaining to various authorities about the activities of the government with the intention to tarnish the image and bring administrative paralysis. “The government has the wherewithal to withstand such tactics,” he said when asked whether the Centre was taking revenge on the ruling Congress’s stand against the nomination of three MLAs by the BJP.
When asked whether he was referring to Ms. Bedi, the Chief Minister said, “You can have your interpretation.”
To a question about political conspiracy, he said, “You have to wait till the CBI probe.”
‘Onus on CBI’
Mr. Narayanasamy said he had faith in government officials and firmly believed that they would not indulge in any wrongdoing. When it was pointed out that it was the CBI’s contention that the officials had “connived” with the management of private institutions, he said it had to be proved in a court of law.
The Chief Minister, along with his Cabinet colleagues and senior officials, cut a cake to mark the formation of SPV. He told reporters that the SPV had been registered under the Companies Act.
Under the smart city project, various schemes, including those related to augmentation of drinking water supply, uninterrupted power supply, building up infrastructure for smooth public transportation and tourism improvement work, would be initiated on an area of 1,468 acres in Puducherry, he said.
The projects would be completed in three years, he added. Minister for Public Works A. Namassivayam, Minister for Health Malladi Krishna Rao, Minister for Revenue M.O.H.F Shahjahan, Minister for Agriculture R. Kamalakannan, Parliamentary Secretary to Chief Minister K. Lakshminarayanan and Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Parida were present at the press conference.
