Activists of the All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) staged a demonstration at Odiansalai on Tuesday to protest against the policies of the Union Government.

The agitators charged the Union Government with adopting a pro-corporate stand which was detrimental to the working class. The Government’s decision to enhance the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), amendment of the Labour Act and Land Acquisition Bill was against the interest of the working class. The centre should immediately withdraw the Land Acquisition Bill.

The agitators also raised slogans against the Puducherry Government for frequently hiking the electricity tariff. They also demanded the Government to reopen the AFT mills.
