CENTAC to release MBBS rank list on June 15

First round of counselling will be over June 25

There are about 391 MBBS seats available to students who prefer to join medical courses in the government quota, as per the seat matrix provided by the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC).

According to information given by CENTAC, 127 seats are available in the Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute, Puducherry and 264 seats under government quota in seven self finance medical institutions which have around 900 seats.

In all, 535 B.Tech seats are available in the two engineering colleges The CENTAC is the nodal agency which facilitates for admission process to professional courses in the Union Territory.

As on Saturday, over 11,500 students had logged on to apply for admissions into the professional courses which including medical and engineering.

Online applications

The issue of online applications commenced on May 9 and ended in last Saturday.

As the submission of application forms was permitted only through online mode, forms would be considered only on receipt of printout of the online entry.

So far 5,500 candidates sent their print outs of the online entry to CENTAC. June 10 is the last date for receiving such printouts through courier or post.

After collecting such forms until June 10 and considering those forms, we planned to release rank list on June 15, said a top official in the CENTAC.

Following the Supreme Court’s directions in the case of Lipika Gupta versus Union of India, the Medical Council of India recently sent a communication to all states to follow a strict schedule of counseling.

Counselling

The first round of counselling for admission to MBBS courses should be over June 25 and the second by July 27.

According to officials, all efforts were on to commence counselling for MBBS courses on schedule.

The Government shall decide and instruct the CENTAC on commencement of counselling. As per plans, the rank list will be released on June 15.
