The Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) postponed counselling for PG medical seats until further notice.
A senior official in CENTAC said that the Supreme Court has passed an order that deemed universities need not give away 50% of the seats to State quota. “We are waiting for the court order. Once we get the order, it will be sent to the Law Secretary, Chief Minister and other officials to take a decision. Only after that a date for counselling will be announced,” he said.
However, officials added that since they have not received the court order they do not know what it states.
CENTAC counselling for PG dental course was held on May 2 and counselling for PG Medical courses was scheduled for May 4 and 5. Confusion over seat sharing and reservation has been prevalent since the first day.
Candidates stated that they were not informed about the postponement till Friday evening. “The officials asked us to wait till 1 p.m. as there was confusion whether to go ahead with the counselling. At 2.30 p.m., certificates were verified, but by 4 p.m. they told us that the counselling has been postponed,” said a candidate.
