A case has been booked against four persons for allegedly forging documents and selling land belonging to a French national. Wife of a local DMK leader who had bought the land is among the four accused.
Cases were booked against Rollando Kichore Alibert Ashokan, his mother Jeanette Ester, Nithya Devi , and Shanthi, wife of DMK leader M.A. Subramanian for forgery and cheating, according to Inspector Arivuselvan of the Odiansalai police station.
The land originally belonged to Dambrun Paulin, a French citizen who had rented a house on the corner of Mission Street and Kandappa Mudali Street to Rollando Joseph through two leases in 1959 and 1971. Rollando Joseph then defaulted payment of monthly rent and was asked to vacate. Paulin took the case to court, and an eviction notice was served, a Right to Information petition revealed.
AppealRollando Joseph then made an appeal in the Supreme Court, which ordered Joseph to vacate before August 2006. Since then, Jeanette Ester allegedly bequeathed the house to her son Alibert Ashokan, who then allegedly sold 925 square feet to Nithya Devi and 1,656 square feet to Shanthi.
Paulin’s son Marie Joseph Adrein Dambrun approached the Association of French Nationals in India and lodged a complaint with the French Consulate.
