Burglars struck at the locked residence of a BSNL officer. The family was on a vacation in the U.S.

The neighbours were shocked to find the door of the house kept open. They found the things inside the house in disarray and informed the Mudaliarpet Police Station.

A.Elango and his wife E.Senthamilselvi supervisors in BSNL, who own the house at First Cross Street, Chettiar Thope, Murungapakkam, left for the U.S. on July 1.

When the police entered into the house, they found the utensils and dresses scattered all over the place and the almirah broken open. According to police, the burglars had kept the bureau on the bed mattress to muffle the sound as they broke it open. They had also used a wet cloth to wipe away the fingerprints.

When a relative phoned Mr. Elango to alert him about the burglary in house, he reportedly said that all the valuables were in a bank locker.

However, his son Thirumurugan working in a software company in Sozhinganallur rushed to the spot and lodged complaint with the Muduliarpet Police.

According to him, gold watches, laptop, cash and silver materials worth Rs. four lakh were found missing.
