Passengers can now book tickets on buses of the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) from the comfort of their homes or offices.
Chief Minister N. Rangasamy formally launched the online e-ticket facility at the Legislative Assembly on Friday.
The objective is to save passengers and tourists the hassle of waiting in queues at counters to book their tickets.
Bangalore-based Radiant Info Systems in association with the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) have developed the online bus ticket reservation system (www.prtc.in) for PRTC.
CIRT in association with Radiant Info Systems have already launched an integrated portal — BusiIndia.com for online booking of bus tickets which has been integrated with over a dozen transport corporations including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
“Efforts are on to provide a link on the site www.prtc.in for booking hotels so as to provide a full itinerary experience for the passengers. This is a user friendly service for our passengers. We hope that this portal will help us increase better passengers services leading to increase in patronage. Plans are on to introduce many more such passenger friendly services and offer an integrated travel experience,” said P. Devaraj, Managing Director, PRTC.
“The PRTC portal will enable them to sell tickets on multiple delivery channels on an anywhere any time basis. Passengers can book for PRTC buses online, mobile and other channels will be introduced in due course of time. Passengers can pay through major credit and debit cards. The traveller can choose the boarding point and also their seats,” said Y.V. Srikar of Radiant Info Systems Ltd.
