The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has warned the Chief Minister and Speaker of serious consequences if the court order on the issue of nominated MLAs was not implemented.

BJP local unit president and nominated MLA V. Swaminathan told presspersons that the court had upheld the appointment made by the Centre.

“The Chief Minister and the Speaker should be ready to face serious consequences if they fail to implement the court order,” he added.

The BJP would write to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking police protection.

“We don’t have faith in the territorial police. So, we will write to Home Minister,” he added.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs appointed the BJP members after the Congress government failed to take any steps in the matter, he said.

The nominated members also called on Chief Secretary Ashwani Kumar and sought his help.
