BJP president V. Swaminathan has denied making casteist remarks against Congress MLA V. Vizeaveny.

Mr. Swaminathan told a press conference here that he had never spoken ill about any person while addressing the protesting workers of Puducherry Agro Services and Industries Corporation (Papsco) Ltd.

The complaint filed by Ms. Vizeaveny was false and it was aimed at deflecting attention, he said. Hundreds of Papsco workers, including Dalits, were present when he made the speech.

‘Ready to resign’

Mr. Swaminathan said if the charges were proved against him he was ready to resign.

The complaint was filed to deflect attention from the charges he had levelled against Congress MLA N. Danavelou of adopting fraudulent means to swindle government money, the BJP president said.
