Bharatanatyam workshop held to promote awareness

As part of creating awareness on culture and heritage, a three-day Bharatanatyam workshop was held at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Millennium School-Cuddalore.

The school invited resource persons from the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) to conduct the Bharatanatyam workshop for students (Standard VI-VIII). Deepti Parol, a senior disciple of Master Dhananjayan, along with her student Sriju taught the students. The workshop was held from August 8 to 10 and on August 11, the artists and students performed.

“The workshop focusses on classical music, dance, art forms, etc. At the end of the session, participants were made to sit through live performances by famous artists. It is a feast for the soul. Our schoolchildren participated in two conventions – one in Coimbatore held at Delhi Public School, exclusively for school students and the other at Guwahati IIT (2016) which as an international convention,” said N. Mahalakshmi, headmistress, PSBBMS, Cuddalore.
