Awareness session on oral hygiene held

Jipmer hosts health education initiative

An audience, predominantly comprising school and college students, was given an overview of the importance of maintaining dental and oral health during an awareness session hosted by Jipmer.

The 52nd “Jipmer Health Education Initiative” held under the auspices of the “Health Education for All” Forum focussed on raising awareness about dental and oral health, oral cancer and the importance of oral hygiene, and also cleared common misconceptions among the 300-strong participants.

The session featured presentations on ‘Dental & Oral Health Myths & Facts’ by Dr. Madhan, Additional Professor and Head, Department of Dentistry, Dr. B. Krishnan, Additional Professor, Dr. R. Akilesh, Senior Resident and Dr. Saravanan, Senior Resident from the Department of Dentistry.

M. Sampaul, Medical Social Worker, Medical Social Services Wing, Jipmer moderated the session. The programme was telecast to all medical colleges in South India under the National Medical College Network Project through Jipmer Regional Resource Centre.
