Chief Minister N. Rangasamy presented awards and medals to police personnel

Chief Minister N.Rangasamy on Monday unfurled the tri-colour flag at the Indira Gandhi Sports Stadium. He presented awards and medals to police personnel and others on Republic Day.

After hoisting the flag, Mr. Rangasamy along with Inspector General of Police Praveer Ranjan inspected the guard of honour by the Puducherry police.

The Chief Minister took the salute at the march past by Armed Police, Traffic Police, Civil Police, India Reserve Battalion, Home Guards, Fire Service, Ex-Servicemen and school students.

Chief Secretary Chetan B.Sanghi announced the President’s Police Medal for meritorious performance to Superintendent of Police (Rural) V. Deivasigamani and Head Constable in Police Training School Venkateswara Rao.

On the occasion, Mr. Rangasamy also presented Lieutenant Governor’s Police Medals for Excellent Performance to P.K. Sajith and the Special Grade Head Constable S. Ashok Kumar.

Thirty four schools were awarded the Chief Minister’s Rolling Trophies for outstanding results in the SSLC public examination in March-April 2014 and the achievement of hundred per cent pass percentage. Government Girl’s Higher Secondary School, Kadirkamam received Education Minister’s Rolling Trophy for the best performance in the Higher Secondary Public Examination during last March- April 2014.

The Chief Minister presented Social Welfare Department’s Cash Award of Rs.One lakh to Anandarangapillai Government Special School for Differently-Abled Children, Pillaichavady, which achieved 100 percentage pass in the SSLC public exam in March 2014.

In the tableaux that highlighted the achievements of various departments, the Police Department gave a vivid account of anti-terror operations and showcased the launching of a new traffic service. Women and Child Development, Social Welfare Department, Tourism and other departments also presented various programmes.

Cultural programmes were displayed by school students.

In the evening, Lieutenant Governor A.K.Singh hosted a Republic Day reception at the Rajnivas. Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy and his cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary Mr. Sanghi, IG Mr. Ranjan, officials and eminent persons participated.
