The eighth Auroville Marathon run is being held on Sunday.
The event kicks off at the Auroville Visitor Centre at 5 a.m. with the full marathon that spans a distance of 42.5 km. The half run starts at 6.15 a.m., the 10-km event at 7 a.m. and the 5-km run at 8 a.m.
Over 3,400 participants have registered for three categories of the marathon.
There is also a short run of 5 km in partnership with Dehashakiti Sport for children and family members.
The route is mixed trail and road surface with colour directional arrows to guide the runners for each category.
Auroville bicycle group assists with escorting, Auroville Security with route mapping, Auroville Road Service with trail and venue set-up. There will be 11 aid stations with over 500 volunteers.
There will also be an Auroville Marathon Market, also held at the visitor centre, along with the registration booth for the participants.
Over 23 Auroville units and services will be showcasing and selling their products at the market.
