Attempt to communalise education: Thirumavalavan

July 31, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Saturday alleged that the new education policy of the Centre was an attempt to impose communal sentiments amongst the people.

Talking to reporters after presenting a memorandum to Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy seeking proper utilisation of funds under the Special Component Plan (SCP), he condemned the policy and wondered whether it was framed after eliciting the views of academicians, students and other stakeholders.

Mr. Thirumavalavan said the draft policy appears to be framed keeping in mind the guidelines given by the Sangh Parivar.

This is only an attempt to commercialise education and would pave way for foreign players to get into the education sector.

The VCK will stage demonstrations in Chennai and Puducherry on August 3 against the new education policy of the Centre.
