The sixth national conference on official language began at JIPMER on Tuesday.

The two-day event is hosted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare which organises two Official Language Conferences every year at the national level to encourage the progressive use of the official language and create a working environment of Hindi in the official work in the offices of attached subordinate offices/autonomous institutions.

R. Radhakrishnan, MP, formally inaugurated the conference in the presence of Dr. Subhash Chandra Parija, Director, JIPMER, and Charan Singh, Deputy Director (Official Language), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Radhakrishnan said that language not only played an important role to succeed economically and socially it was also a means of connecting people.

Dr. Parija underscored the uniqueness of Hindi language officially and the importance of using an appropriate method of official language.

Mr. Charan Singh highlighted the efforts of Government of India in implementing official language.

Rajesh Srivastava, Assistant Director (Official Language), presented the background of the conference and briefed delegates about the nature and scope of the conference.

Kusa Kumar Saha, Secretary, Town Official Language Implementation Committee, participated.

The conference is being attended by 300 employees of various Central Government offices and institutions from throughout India.

The inaugural function was followed by sessions that included various aspects on the progressive use of official language in Central Government Offices and institutions. The experts in the field would be giving lectures and various interactive sessions will be held.
