The five-day 22nd national Congress of the Communist Party of India (CPI) concluded here on Sunday with a massive rally involving thousands of party workers.

Men and women in red took part in the rally that began at the old port grounds and culminated at the AFT grounds on Cuddalore road.

Public meeting

A public meeting was held at the end of the rally. It was addressed by the newly elected members of the national executive and national council including general secretary S. Sudhakar Reddy and Gurudas Das Gupta.

The party congress adopted resolutions on various issues and condemned what they called the anti-people and anti labour policies of the Narendra Modi led BJP government at the centre.

Protests on May 14

The party decided to hold protests across the country on May 14 to protest against the Land Acquisition Bill and other injurious economic polices of the Union government.

It also expressed its grave concern on the ongoing civil war in Syria and urged the Syrian government to bring about democratic and inclusive reforms and initiate dialogue with the opposition to overcome the conflict.
