The government will provide 50 per cent concession on power bill to those consuming less than 100 units a month from this month, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has said.
Addressing reporters here on Tuesday on the occasion of 100 days in office, Mr. Narayanasamy said the government’s decision would benefit 50 per cent of the consumers in the Union Territory.
The government has also decided to bear the educational expenditure of Scheduled Caste students in professional colleges admitted through the Centralised Admission Committee, he said. Highlighting the achievements, he said his government was able to improve the law and order situation in the last three months and restore confidence among traders and industrialists. During the tenure of the previous government, law and order had taken a beating and anti-social elements had a free run extorting money from traders and businessmen. Police force would be modernised further using funds to the tune of Rs. 45 crore, he said.
Another priority area, he said was to revive industrial growth by providing all necessary infrastructure so that new firms could set up base here.
