14 injured in road accident

In an accident that occurred at Sithani near Vikkiravandi 14 persons, including 10 passengers of a State Transport Corporation bus and four of a car, were injured on Wednesday night.

Police sources said the STC bus plying on the Chennai - Pattukottai route reportedly went out of control, and hit the median and a car proceeding to Chennai from Madurai. Later, it fell into a roadside pit.

Thiagarajan (64) of Narimedu area in Madurai, his son Arivumani (38), daughter-in-law Nithya (32), and two children were travelling in the car.

Except the children the others sustained injuries.

All the injured have been admitted to the Mundiyambakkam government medical college hospital.

The Vikkiravandi police have registered a case.
