Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday said that the chair of the Chief Minister is like a seat full of thorns. “I am only interested in people’s welfare,” he said while addressing reporters.
Taking a dig at former Chief Minister Rangasamy, he said he had not done anything for the people. “He is only craving for the Chief Minister’s chair. All political parties have the right to air their views but it should be for the good of the people and not for power and office,” Mr. Narayanasamy added.
When asked about the current political turmoil in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, he said that the government was closely watching the developments.
Better late philosophy?
The meetings of the All India N R Congress have become synonymous with chaos.
Whether it is a press conference or party meeting, chaos reigns with journalists bearing the brunt of it as occurred during the seventh anniversary celebrations of the party last week.
The party founder N. Rangasamy was scheduled to hoist the party flag at AINRC office at around 10. 30 a.m. but reached the venue more than one-and-a-half hours late.
A handful of supporters took control of the office as the former Chief Minister arrived even displacing some of the party legislators. Journalists were made to stand out without knowing what transpired inside the office.
Every anniversary celebrations ends up with an apology by some AINRC member for the inconvenience and an assurance not to repeat the mistake next time.
