Pass percentage improves in the Nilgiris

The higher secondary examinations results for 2017 have been mostly positive for the district as the pass percentage has improved slightly this year to 92.06.

According to data provided by the education department and the district administration, more than 8,361 children appeared for the examinations, of which 7,697 children from 74 schools in the district passed.

Government school children fared quite well this year, with 85.80 per cent of those who appeared for the examination, passing. Girls have fared much better than the boys, with 95 per cent of all girls appearing for the examinations having passed, as compared to just 87.67 percent of the boys passing. About 88.96 per cent of girls who are from governments schools too have passed, as compared to 82.93 per cent of boys.
