Mumbai A 34-year-old woman died after a hydraulic crane ran over her at Utsav Chowk in Kharghar on Saturday. Police said the incident took place around 8 p.m.
The victim, identified as Sujata Puri, worked at VLCC in Nerul and was on her way home when she was hit by the crane. A resident of Advance Galaxy housing society in Sector 20, Kharghar, Ms. Puri fell from her two-wheeler when it skid after crossing a speed breaker near Utsav Chowk. The crane, which was coming from behind, ran over her head killing her on the spot.
Police said the crane’s driver has been detained. “After formalities, a case will be registered and the driver will be arrested," Senior PI Dilip Kale, Kharghar police station, said Ms. Puri leaves behind her husband, a caterer by profession, and two children.
