Will create milk brand like Amul: CM

August 12, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:12 am IST - MUMBAI:

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday announced to develop a new milk brand for the state on the lines of Gujarat’s dairy co-operative, Amul.

At a meeting with dairy department officials, Mr. Fadnavis said Amul represents a higher level of quality. “We in Maharashtra too should look forward to develop such a brand which gives the highest level of quality,” he said.

To make district-level milk co-operatives more profitable and ready to face competition, Mr. Fadnavis said the Yavatmal district milk co-operative society will now be run by Amul.

“This will help the milk producers in Yavatmal, as their association with Amul will help in increasing production and earn more,” he said.

In the past, Mr. Fadnavis has spoken about rebuilding the state’s existing dairy farms such Aarey Dairy and Mahananda with new technology.
