Global CEOs attending the Magnetic Maharashtra investors’ summit have said the State should improve mobility if it wants to attract investments.
Senior officials said that ChiefMminister Devendra Fadnavis met CEOs from trade and industry forums representing the United States, United Kingdom and France on the concluding day of the summit on Tuesday. He invited them to set up five-star hotels in cities, and water treatment plants and manufacturing units in backward regions.
Mr. Fadnavis assured them that the State was working to improve mobility, with projects such as airports at Navi Mumbai and Purandar (near Pune) building missing lines on Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
“Our infrastructure projects are on time, meeting all deadlines. We need more star hotels and we are on it. Our focus is on expanding tourism potential. We are here always for you. Maharashtra is the destination which fulfils all your expectations,” Mr. Fadnavis said.
He promised the U.K. and French delegations to appoint a nodal officer to deal with industry and trade issues, and assured the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) help in setting up manufacturing units.
USISPF was represented by companies such as Exxon Mobil, Paypal, Huntsman, Ecolab, Thomson Reuters, Azure Power, Corning, and SannamS4. USISPF president Mukesh Aghi said, “Maharashtra is leading the way in manufacturing. It is a role model for other States.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Fadnavis and Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal signed an MoU worth ₹600 crore to build a rail coach factory in Latur.
