Six persons, including two police officers and a woman, have been arrested for allegedly raping a 29-year-old model and robbing her of jewellery and cash. A case was registered after the woman approached Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria for help.
The police chief on Tuesday received an SMS on his mobile phone where the sender identified herself as a woman who was misbehaved with and sought help to ensure that justice was done to her.
When he subsequently called her up, she narrated her ordeal and alleged that she was sexually assaulted and her belongings were forcefully taken away from her by a group of people. According to the complainant, the group included five men and a woman.
Trying to frame: policeThe two police officers booked in the case are Assistant Sub Inspectors, said the police. The accused police officers, however, are learnt to have told the investigators that they had threatened to arrest the woman when she was caught doing some illegal activity in a hotel and that she was trying to frame them.
