Mumbai: A Titwala-based builder has alleged that he was attacked while on his way home on Monday night. The police arrested two persons on Tuesday in this connection.

The builder, Santosh Gondhali, has several cases registered against him with the Thane Rural Police because of a long-standing enmity with another local builder, Sunil Dhumal.

Mr. Gondhali has said in his FIR that he was on his way home in his car after visiting his in-laws, when another car, carrying Mr. Dhumal’s associates, rammed into his. The impact sent Mr. Gondhali’s car into a ditch, injuring the builder and two of his associates.

“Mr. Gondhali has alleged that Mr. Dhumal’s associates chased him with revolvers and fired several rounds at him, and that he managed to escape into the forest. However, we have not found any evidence pointing to shots being fired, nor have any eyewitnesses been found,” said senior police inspector Vyankat Andhale, Titwala police station.

The police have registered a case of attempt to murder under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.
